Trail report for February 28, 2010

It seems that mother nature has something against us this season. With above average temps and the lack of any significant snowfall it appears that our season is about over. Trails are bare, water is everywhere and the lakes are starting to become unsafe. Even if we were to get a big storm, groomers are very hesitant to go out. It would be like starting the season all over again and with some equipment issues to begin this year we don't want to do it all over again.

We want to thank everyone who was able to enjoy some great riding in Naples. Thank you for supporting our club as well as stopping into one of our local supporting business's. We also want to thank all of the volunteer's who have put in countless hours doing trail work, repairing groomers and helping to make our Naples Winter Carnival a success this year. We truly couldn't do it without all of you.

Please don't forget we still have a few meetings left this season and want everyone to come and join in. Meetings are the first Saturday of the month at Tiki Bar upstairs with a potluck before the meeting.

Lastly we still need everyone to keep a lookout for tracks for our groomers. We use 121" tracks and can be in fair condition for us to use. We need you help getting these, remember we can't groom without them!

Riders please note a couple of trail changes. The clubhouse trail is now closed due, in part, to construction of a new house in the trail off Edes Falls Road. Another huge factor in the trail closing was that the people who own Pond & Pond Trailer Park have gotten fed up with people spinning up the field in low snow conditions. Please keep this in mind and help us avoid future trail closings. Another change includes a new bridge across the gully behind A2M Market with access from the Legion Field. One other change is the closing of the trail that goes from Route 302, across from Sydney's, to Brandy Pond. Please note that the trail going from Sydney's to Bray's and the Tiki Bar is open.
